On Tyranny is Leo Strauss's vintage interpreting of Xenophon's discussion, Hiero or Tyrannicus, within which the tyrant Hiero and the poet Simonides talk about the benefits and drawbacks of exercise tyranny. This variation encompasses a translation of the discussion, a critique of the observation via the French thinker Alexandre Kojève, Strauss's restatement of his place in gentle of Kojève's reviews, and eventually, the whole Strauss-Kojève correspondence.

Its use for the examination of welds for surface or subsurface discontinuities is only one of the many applications (see Figure 26). Eddy current techniques have also been successfully applied to measure conductivity, grain size, hardness, and thickness; to identify materials with different composition, microstructure, magnetic permeability, and condition of heat treatment; and to determine the thickness of coatings and plating on various materials. In eddy current examinations, an alternating current is passed through a coil placed in proximity to the weld.
A common coil used for weld examination is shown in Figure 27. Figure 27 shows an encircling coil which is used primarily on welded pipe with a longitudinal butt joint. Since the eddy currents flow in a circumferential direction, longitudinal discontinuities would produce the most significant change in eddy current flow. Hence, this technique would be Figure 26—Eddy Current Weld Examination 29 Figure 27—Encircling Coil for the Eddy Current Examination of Welded Pipe most sensitive to longitudinally oriented discontinuities.
6 One additional type of leak testing to be discussed here utilizes a gas of very small molecular size as the testing medium. Helium is the most commonly used gas for this purpose. The helium is introduced into the test object under pressure. It is then detected on the opposite side of the component using special instruments such as a mass spectrometer with extremely sensitive calibrated leak standards. This form of leak testing provides extremely high sensitivity, or the ability to detect the smallest of leaks.
